EpiVisionaries

With support from the Epidemiology Foundation, ACE is launching a new leadership program, the EpiVisionaries, initially focused on women. A networking and program planning session will be held at the Annual Meeting on September 10 from 9:30 -11:30 am.  

Dr. Melissa Perry will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Perry is the Dean of the College of Public Health at George Mason University. Trained as an epidemiologist in public health, she is internationally respected for her work as a scientist, educator, and academic leader.  

Dr. Jera Niewoehner-Green, Associate Professor of Community Leadership in the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, will facilitate the EpiVisionaries session. Dr. Niewoehner-Green teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in leadership theory and practice, facilitates workshops for the OSU Leadership Center and conducts research examining women's participation in leadership roles and community groups as well as youth empowerment through leadership development.  

Conference attendees at any career level and from any work sector are welcome to attend. For registered attendees, please consider your responses to the following questions in preparation for the session at the annual meeting: 

  • Throughout your career, what have been the barriers and opportunities to your success and leadership development?
  • When an organization is supportive of your leadership development, what’s going on? When it is NOT supportive what’s going on?
  • What are the attributes of leadership development for women?
