Mia Papas, PhD

Why do you want to serve as a leader of the College?:

I am dedicated to supporting the college in its critical mission to serve the interests of the profession through advocacy and continued education. There has never been a more critical time for epidemiologists to come together to promote good science and work for the common good. This will be my focus as a member of the board where I will work for all constituents to establish a professional home, foster and develop mentorship, and support epidemiologists so we can effectively improve the health of all.

What are your qualifications and experiences that will help you in service as a leader?:

I have been involved with the American College of Epidemiology for over two decades having first become an associate member as a student in 2001 and then transitioning to membership in 2007. I have served on the awards committee for two terms and was Chair of the awards committee from 2017 – 2020. In 2020, I had the privilege to serve on the ACE board and acted as a board liaison to the Awards and the Ethics committees. Now that I am a recent fellow, I am qualified to serve as a fellow member of the Board.
